Makhtar's Interview
Here is the fifth Blue Heaven interview. If you know of any questions
that should be added, feel free to e-mail them....
Question: Where were you born?
Answer: Diourbel, Senegal
Q: How did you end up in the USA?
A: Oak Hill saw a tape of a French basketball tournament where I was
named to the all-tournament team. After that, they contacted me.
Q: What happened with your recruitment to Wake Forest in your words?
A: They screwed up. That's the best way I can put it.
Q: Do you hold any animosity towards either of your past teams?
A: Not really, but I would love to play against them.
Q: How does being Coach Smith's only transfer make you feel?
A: Special, I consider it to be a privilege.
Q: How many languages can you speak fluently?
A: Seven: French, English, some Spanish, Wolof Serero, Tucoleur,
Diola, and Macagn.
Q: If you could play for any NBA team, for whom would you play?
A: It really doesn't matter, but I would love to be somewhere sunny.
Q: What areas do you see yourself as needing improvement?
A: My overall game.
Q: Who has given you the most vital support?
A: My parents and family, my high school coach, my girlfriend, and,
of course, Coach Smith.
Q: What goes through your mind when you feel everyone stare at you
as you walk across campus?
A: I don't know. It's a weird feeling, so I don't really think about
it. I try to be a normal student.
Q: Besides basketball, what do you like to do?
A: I like listening to music, like R&B and rap, watching movies,
talking on the phone, socializing, thinking about home, and
traveling.
Q: Do you have any final comments?
A: I am a lucky person because the first time I played sports I wore
a blue uniform and #4. Now, I'm back. Since I'm the kid from the
Motherland, hopefully, we will make it to the Promised Land.
