Lady Monarchs Fall To No. 31 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- The No. 31 ranked Virginia women's tennis won its third consecutive match, defeating Old Dominion 5-2 on Friday afternoon. The win improves the Cavaliers' record to 4-1 on the season., while the Lady Monarchs drop their first contest of the spring, falling to 3-1 on the year. Although the Cavaliers took the doubles points, ODU's No. 1 doubles team of senior Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) and Fernanda Luiz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) did emerge victorious defeating 38th ranked Mariko Fritz-Korckow and Lauren Brunch.
The Lady Monarchs earned their two points with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Cahana defeated 74th ranked Mariko Fritz-Krockow at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while her doubles teammate Luiz defeated Lauren Bruch, 6-1, 7-6, at No. 3 singles.
The Old Dominion women's tennis team returns to action playing CAA rival Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday, February 8th.
